Project:
CFS was contracted to deliver a military rated Helicopter Flight Simulator from Cergy – Pontoise in France to the Australian Defence Force base in Townsville, Australia.
The cargo involved 52 crates of assorted sizes and weights with sensitive electronics and general goods.
Challenge:
The CFS team had plenty of challenges along the way including the booking of security escorts, government road authority permits and crane contractors for unloading at destination point. Our challenge was to provide an effective plan for the shipping/ transport of sensitive OOG (Out Of Gauge) equipment to the ultimate destination in a safe and secure environment.
How was the challenge addressed or planned for?
CFS arranged in conjunction with our French partners the export clearance and road transport from the supplier’s facility to the departure Port of Le Havre. Goods were wrapped, loaded and securely lashed to MAFI trailers for on carriage ex Lyon via RO-RO (roll-on roll-off) carrier to ensure a safe and secure arrival at the Port of Brisbane.
Months of pre arrival planning, endless hours of meetings, introductions of all people involved in the arrival, permit approvals and transport processes; was diligently carried out to ensure the entire arrival and delivery process was completed smoothly and efficiently. Like a carefully planned military operation nothing was left to chance.
Final result:
The goods were delivered successfully in pristine condition, on time and on budget with no delays or cost over runs.
